Strategic Planning at KNPB Public Broadcasting

Five Areas of Focus:

Focus Area One: Know our audiences and have our audiences know us.
Goal: Improved interaction with and marketing to constituents and better capture and use of information gained in these interactions.

Objectives:
•    Signal value via integrated marketing and promotion plan. 
•    Regular and ongoing ascertainment using multiple methods.
•    Segmented email interaction tied to development database.

Focus Area Two: Collaborate with other organizations.
Goal: To better serve the community by focusing on issues identified by these groups and to connect people around these issues.

Objectives:
•    Partner with non-profits to create and /or distribute content. 
•    Partner with non-profits to increase effectiveness of outreach.

Focus Area Three: Leverage new technology to better serve diverse audiences.
Goal: To increase knowledge of our content and services and to make those content and services easier to access.

Objectives:
•    Distribute content to audiences via new technologies. 
•    Push segmented, permission based e-mails to viewers.
•    Evolve new digital channels based on viewer feedback. 
•    Use the web and email for communication, transactions, auctions.

Focus Area Four: Tell the stories of Nevada and the West.
Goal: To share the history and assets of our area, as well as focus on current issues facing our region, while creating relevant, engaging content.

Objectives:
•    Shine a light on local and regional issues. 
•    Highlight local and regional assets.
•    Push this content to larger audiences via PBS broadcast and via the web.

Focus Area Five: Plan for the future.
Goal: To ensure the KNPB continues as a strong and relevant local public service and that it is well funded.

Objectives:
•    Conduct semi-annual planning and continually update plans. 
•    Build multi-year budget.
•    Grow endowment and add rainy-day funds.
•    Modify content and services so that they attract more support.
•    Embrace innovative development techniques.
